How to Clean Silicone Toys
Start with your toy's instructions
Clean your toy before its first use and before and after each use, following the manufacturer's directions. A silicone exterior does not mean the whole toy is waterproof or heat-safe. Motors, adhesives, coatings, and internal components can change how it should be cleaned.
Everyday cleaning for washable, non-powered silicone toys
- Wash your hands and inspect the toy for cracks, tears, or other damage. Stop using it if it is damaged.
- If the manufacturer permits washing with soap and water, gently wash with warm water and a mild, unscented soap. Clean grooves and textured areas carefully without abrasive scrubbers.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove soap and residue.
- Let the toy air-dry completely on a clean surface, or dry it with a clean, lint-free cloth.
- Store it only when it is fully dry.
Cleaning powered silicone toys
Switch the toy off and disconnect it from its charger before cleaning. Follow its specific cleaning and waterproofing instructions. Do not immerse it unless the manufacturer explicitly allows immersion; splash-resistant does not necessarily mean submersible.
For toys that cannot be immersed, use the manufacturer's recommended wipe-clean method. Keep water away from openings and electrical components as directed. Allow the toy and charging contacts to dry completely before charging.
Can I boil it or put it in the dishwasher?
Only use heat-based methods if the manufacturer explicitly approves them for that exact toy and provides directions. Do not assume a toy can be boiled or put in a dishwasher just because it is described as silicone or platinum-cured silicone. Never boil a powered toy.
What about toy cleaners and disinfectants?
Use only cleaners compatible with your product and follow both the toy manufacturer's directions and the cleaner's label, including any rinsing requirements. Do not assume a toy cleaner disinfects or sterilizes a toy. Ordinary washing is not the same as sterilization.
Avoid alcohol, bleach, solvents, abrasive cleaners, and strongly fragranced products unless the manufacturer specifically approves the product and method. Never mix cleaning chemicals.
Pay attention to tubes and removable parts
If your toy includes tubing, reservoirs, or removable attachments, follow the instructions for taking them apart, cleaning each component, and drying the inside completely. Do not leave liquid trapped inside. If you cannot access an area for cleaning, ask the manufacturer for guidance.
Store clean, dry, and protected
Keep your dry toy in a clean pouch or container away from dust, direct sunlight, and excessive heat. Separate storage helps prevent contact with other toy materials. Inspect it again before its next use.
When in doubt, ask first
If your toy develops persistent residue, an unusual odor, or surface damage, stop using it and contact the manufacturer or seller. Visit our Contact Us page with your product name if you need help finding its care instructions.
